Robert Lewandowski has told Xavi Hernandez which players he wants in Barcelona’s forward line and which players he prefers to have on the bench.
Because there are a number of Barcelona players who don’t contribute anything to the team’s matches, and don’t help the Polish striker achieve his goal, which is clearly to score as many goals as possible. But in particular, there is one player who stands out above the rest.
After selling Memphis Depay to Atletico Madrid at the special request of Diego Simeone, who was considered the Polish striker’s biggest enemy in the dressing room, now there is another player who faces a very complicated future after learning that the winner of The Best in 2020 is not comfortable with him on the field. And it didn’t take long for Juan Laporta and Matteo Alemany to put him on the market.
And if Ferran Torres has already come under fire, all he needs is for one of the team’s captains to stand up against him. But this is exactly what happened from the former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich player. Every time Ferran is part of the attacking line, he ends up getting desperate because of the huge amount of balls he loses in 90 minutes.
He is unable to distinguish differences and make good decisions, and in the last meters he is always nervous and makes mistakes. Head-to-head, he has had very little success, and is unable to connect with the rest of Barcelona’s forwards. His efforts and defensive tackle can’t be faulted, and he always goes the extra mile. But this is not enough to be part of Xavi’s plans.
Lewandowski asks the coach not to sympathize with Ferran Torres and leave him on the bench, no matter how much money it cost him to sign him 12 months ago, for which they paid close to 60 million euros.
Juan Laporta and Mateo Alemany are well aware of the difficulty of finding a buyer for Ferran Torres, and let’s not even talk about recouping the investment they made. But Torres showed no desire to leave either. And he proved that, by turning down an offer from the Premier League in January, as it became known recently.
