The Barcelona Sports Administration has already started working on making serious decisions for the next sports project. Mathieu Alemany, Director of Football, and Jordi Cruyff, Sporting Director, are taking advantage of these days to meet with the agents of all the squad’s players and with potential future prospects to see if there are any sale offers or new deals to speak of.
All information is being collected to start identifying sales and new signings from March after agreement with coach Xavi Hernandez.
In recent days, Barcelona met with the most important players’ agents in the market: Jorge Mendes, Benny Zahavi and Fali Ramadan met with the club to assess the market’s problems.
The three agents have players in the Barcelona first team and manage other players who could be interesting in the future. The club has met with the agents of almost all of its first-team players to see potential offers for the future.
This is because Barcelona might need some sales or some loan deals to lower the salary cap in the summer. The club wants to have a clear picture of what can be paid for each player.
There are red lines that will not be crossed, such as selling key players in the team unless they want to leave and attractive financial offers from the market. The idea is to get rid of a player with the fewest number of minutes who can bring in a big financial return. Anyway, nothing will be finalized until the end of the season because they don’t want to disturb the good stability of the team.
In terms of new deals, the club is working to include a left center back, a right back, a midfielder and one or two strikers. That’s the initial idea as long as there are departures and enough salary margin to sign up new players.
There are options to include players at no cost and players that can be loaned if certain circumstances arise. In the case of agent Benny Zahavi, the signing of Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid has already been agreed.
The second name is Benjamin Pavard although he would be an expensive option at the moment. If the France international full-back wants to sign, he will have to push for Bayern Munich’s demands to be minimal.
