Bad news for FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana lost Pedri to injury in the 40th minute, who was substituted for Sergi Roberto in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 play-off match against Manchester United.
Barcelona tied with Manchester United with two goals for the same in an exciting match in the first leg of the 16th round of the European League championship, Thursday evening, at Camp Nou, amid a massive crowd attendance of more than 90,000 spectators.
Barcelona announced the diagnosis of Pedri’s injury in an official statement, which read as follows:
First team player Pedri suffers from a rectus femoris injury in his right thigh. Further tests will be carried out to find out the exact extent of the injury.”
As Sport reported earlier, Pedri left the pitch with a worried face as he discussed the procedure with Barcelona’s chief of medical services, Ricard Bruna. Already on the bench he shared his sad feelings with Ferran Torres.
Subsequent medical tests should reveal a definitive diagnosis of the injury, although according to Radio Catalunya Pedri could be out between 3 and 4 weeks with a ruptured rectus femoris in his right thigh, which could see him miss the return leg against United and the first leg of the cup against real madrid.
