Ousmane Dembele caused a scare in the Barcelona match against Girona in the 18th round of the Spanish Premier League competitions, as he had to be replaced due to injury in the middle of the first half.
The Frenchman noticed discomfort in his left leg after sprinting the ball past the Girona defender. Dembele had to stop the race and after a few minutes on the pitch, testing himself to see if he could continue, he asked for a switch.
Pedri entered his place in the 26th minute, where he scored the winning goal and was named man of the match. Dembele did not leave for the dressing room but remained on the bench.
Since Xavi’s arrival in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bthe player has hardly been injured. His last injury occurred in November 2021, once the new coach arrived. But once he recovered, he never had a mishap again until today.
The club issued a statement in the first half of the match indicating that the French player had been diagnosed with a quadriceps muscle injury in his left leg.
He did not provide more information and referred to some medical examinations that will be performed on the player upon his return to Barcelona. Seeing how limping Dembele was when he came back to the bench, the injury doesn’t look good.
